What is Seedance, and what are Seedance 2.0 and 2.5?
Seedance is the AI video model from ByteDance, the company behind TikTok and CapCut, made by its Seed research team. Seedance 1.0 came out in 2025. Seedance 2.0 went viral in February 2026 for its film-like camera work, multi-shot clips and sound generated with the picture, and Seedance 2.5 followed later in 2026 with takes of up to 30 seconds. ByteDance offers it in its own apps, Dreamina and CapCut, and to developers through its cloud API.
Seedance 2.0 comes in several tiers. The one ToonBee AI runs is Seedance 2 Mini, the faster, lower-cost tier: clips of 4–15 seconds with native audio and cuts between shots inside one clip. It renders at 480p, and 720p or 1080p are that render upscaled.
Seedance 2.5 is the current flagship: one continuous take of up to 30 seconds with its own audio and lip sync, rendered natively at 480p, 720p or 1080p and closer to live footage than Seedance 2.0.
